This week kept us very busy at Endless Pinball.
We started the week off working on a Starship Troopers pinball that was resetting (a low 5 Volt DC issue). It turned out to be a bad capacitor and a bad power connector that had to be replaced going to the CPU board. Furthermore, the customer never changed the batteries, so battery acid leaked all over the battery holder – this had to be replaced. We unsoldered the old unit and re-installed a new one.
Once we fixed this problem we did a light clean up of the game, tested all the switches, solenoids, lights, and flashers. The game is now functioning 100%.
Later in the week, we went into LA. We worked on a Bally Rolling Stones and a Heavy Metal Meltdown. Both of the CPUs had the original Nicad battery packs, we unsoldered those and installed new battery packs (remote mounted) so even if the new packs leaked the CPU board would be safe.
The customer was moving the games into storage so we carefully packed the Rolling Stones and Heavy Metal Meltdown.
Finally, the Guns N Roses incurred some shipping damage on a corner of the cabinet, we glued the edge and painted it black to match the rest of the cabinet.
Our last service call involved a Data East Monday Night Football, the game was not booting up at all. We measured all the voltages, and checked the fuses. The power supply was good, and the voltages were good. The blanking circuit on the CPU board wasn’t working properly. Unfortunately we could not fix it on site. We took the CPU board out of the game and into our shop and we are diagnosing it at our facility.
